Fight by Main St

2023-1404
On July 6, 2023 Lillooet RCMP received a report of two men fighting on Main St. Lillooet RCMP attended and located 3 men all in a fighting stance yelling at one another. Everyone was separated and declined to provide a statement. It became apparent one male was intoxicated and escalating, he was arrested for being intoxicated in public and was released when sober the following morning.

Injured black bear

On July 8, 2023 Lillooet RCMP were notified a large black bear appeared to have broken legs and was laying next to the train tracks (about 1 km south of town at the bottom of a steep embankment). The bear was located, it was apparent it was unable to walk. The bear was put down and the matter was referred to the BC Conservation service.

Uttering threats

On July 9, 2023 Lillooet RCMP received a report a man had called ICBC 9 times in a day regarding his insurance claims, he made some unwelcomed comments bordering the threshold for uttering threats. The man was spoken to and cautioned by police, he was informed ICBC would contact him themselves regarding his claim. The man appeared to be in a manic state, calling from a boat off the Vancouver Island coast. North Cowichan Duncan RCMP assisted and spoke with the man in person the following day, he was polite and co-operative at the time, there were no further concerns about his well being.

Shots fired

On July 10, 2023 Lillooet RCMP received a report of rifle shots in the woods, east of Fountain Valley road and Frantzen road. The caller could not discern the direction where the sounds were coming from due to the large mountains and the valley. Lillooet RCMP patrolled the area, no people were seen in the area. The caller was updated, and believed it was likely people in the backcountry on crown land. There were no further concerns.

Assault

2023-1450
On July 11, 2023 Lillooet RCMP were notified of a panic alarm button used at a commercial building in town. Lillooet RCMP attended and were advised a man was punched in the face by a woman. The man provided a statement to police where he stated he was hit in the face. The woman was arrested for assault and released given a court date. The file is still under investigation.

Noise complaint

2023-1480
On July 14, 2023 just after midnight, Lillooet RCMP received a noise complaint in the Main St area. Lillooet RCMP later located multiple people camping in a tent causing noise. The group apologized and stated they would keep it down.

Overdue campers

2023-1496
On July 15, 2023 Lillooet RCMP received a report of two overdue campers that had gone to Carpenter Lake Campground in there silver Ford F-150, they had not returned by there expected return date. Lillooet RCMP responded and while en-route to the campsite, police located the vehicle with the two people inside driving toward Lillooet. They were both well and stated they decided to stay out an extra day because the berry and mushroom picking was too good.

Evacuation order

2023-1534
On July 19, 2023 Lillooet RCMP received evacuation orders for a number of residences south of the Seton Portage community due to a nearby wildfire. Lillooet RCMP attended the residences and informed residents of the order.
