File # 2023-10192

On July 19th, 2023 at approximately 11:00 am, the Campbell River RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing in the city's downtown core.

The victim, who had been stabbed in the back, was transported to Campbell River hospital, but has since been released from care.

As a result of the investigation, on July 27th, 2023, police arrested a 24 year old Campbell River man that they believed was responsible for the attack.

A search warrant was executed on a tent considered to be the suspect's residence in Nunn’s Creek Park. As a result of the search several firearms were seized. The seizure included modified rifles and shotguns and their matched caliber ammunitions.

Along with the firearms, police seized over 100 grams of fentanyl and smaller quantities of prescription dilaudid and crack cocaine. A cache of stolen goods was also recovered.

Evidence recovered as a result of the search suggested that drug users had been trading in their prescription dilaudid for illicit fentanyl.

The suspect has since been released from custody on protective conditions. Police will be recommending a number of firearms, drug and property offence charges against the man.

This search and seizure is the result of the excellent ongoing police work carried out by our local officers on a day to day basis, said Inspector Jeff Preston. Anytime we are able to remove illegal firearms and a toxic drug supply from the community, it's a positive for the community's overall well being.

If you have information regarding criminal activity in the community please contact the Campbell River RCMP at 250-286-6221, in an emergency call 911.
