Texada Island RCMP investigate arson at Shelter Point Regional Park

On April 15, 2024 at approximately 3:30pm, a Shelter Point caretaker reported that the outhouse in the overflow camp 2 had been set and fire and was smoldering and reduced to rubble.

Texada Island RCMP report that this happened last summer as well and this is the second outhouse that has been destroyed.

Police are asking anyone with information about this to contact the Texada Island RCMP at 604-486-7717 or the Powell River RCMP at 604-485-6255.

Powell River residents arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle

On April 19, Powell River RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on a hydro line right of way off of Padgett Rd. Police located the vehicle and observed a male a female sleeping in the front seat of the vehicle.

Police determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day and both occupants were arrested for possession of property obtained by crime and release to appear in provincial court.
